Virus Protection Is Not Enough To Keep Your System Safe

The article explains what virus protection is why it is not sufficient to keep your computer safe and secured from evil viruses and spyware etc. The article compiles simple and reliable information. Besides, it doesn’t favor or criticize any particular virus security program or purpose. In fact, it can save you from spending time and money looking for offline, online virus removal support options.

There have been great myths about anti-virus services. A majority of computer, internet users do not easily believe that they are not safe from virus threats as they have a strong anti-virus program installed on their computer. However, it’s not true as viruses are not the only threats and source of infection in this world but there are beasts like spyware, Trojans, bugs, worms, ransomware, adware, keyloggers, and rootkits among other malicious programs.

These programs are totally different from each other in terms of make and the goal behind their development. For example, spyware is designed to stay in your computer to spy on you and transmit all your activities to its client who developed it. So whatever you do on your computer like checking emails, typing banking password and making transactions, or shopping online etc. are all recorded and viewed by the spyware’s developer. He can even flood your computer with unwanted, annoying pop-ups or steal your confidential information without your knowledge and consent.

There is another very dangerous program called ransomware. When it enters your computer locks you out without your knowledge and consent. It captures administration rights of your computer and makes it dysfunctional. It refuses you to unlock it unless you provide the demanded ransom. Once you make the payment to the desired account, you will be given a pass code to enter in your computer and make it functional again. Now you must have understood how dangerous these programs and how they can trap you and derail your life when you are doing anything harmless like creating word files, emailing, shopping online, playing games, listening or downloading a harmless song\video, or simply surfing the internet.

Not just programs, there are hardware devices like keyloggers that are plugged in the back of a computer in order to steal the confidential information. A keylogger monitors and documents all the keystrokes of a user. Therefore, whatever you type using the keyboard, it will be recorded by keylogger. The intended person then can view and use that information recorded in keylogger as desired.

Now you can understand the perils involved in using computer (public and private) and internet. You must be taken aback by the fact that there are millions of viruses, malware programs available on the internet and many more are in the making.

It is quite common for users to face problems like annoying pop-ups, browse hijack (being directed to adult/advertising websites), and computer slowdown among other problems despite having a good anti-virus program installed on their computers. Unless your virus protection (anti-virus) program is an all-rounder, your computer’s (and ultimately yours) security will remain compromised. Most of us don’t even know how to make best use of our existing anti-virus. Seriously, this can reduce the risk of infection to a certain level, however not entirely.

One of the things that you must do is to update your antivirus program on a regular basis. Either do it manually or set it to download and install latest updates automatically. These updates are critical files that tell your antivirus about the behavior and potential risk of newly growing viruses, spyware etc. and thus improve your computer’s immunity.

Though it is critical to have an antivirus for guard against viruses, you must also look into perils caused by other types of infections like spyware etc. You must choose an all-rounder security program that is designed to protect you from all types of known and unknown threats. If you choose a program like that, you will have shell out a good amount of money for that. Don’t bother about the payment but do mind your security. It is a worldwide common interest that we die for free things without looking into the risks involved. There are various free security programs available online, however these don’t provide the sufficient level of security that a computer needs. Choose that best fits into your requirements without falling for free.

Open the Command Prompt window. Type ‘ping 192.168.1.1’ (without quotes and as is). Check for the resulting responses and act accordingly. If you think something has to be done with the router’s configuration, login to its interface. Open you internet browser, type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar and hit the Enter key. This will prompt for the router’s username and password. Enter the credentials and check and modify settings if required. Save settings and exit all the windows. Tips for Migrating Applications to Windows 7

Windows 7, the successor of Windows Vista, has been out for more than a year now. Users who have been looking to upgrade to Win7 from their existing operating systems (OS) are exploring ways to do it in the right manner. Considering it, we have designed a comprehensive guide that will help users perform the migration on their own and essentially without the help of Microsoft technical support.

Steps to Migrating Application to Windows 7

Before starting with the migration procedure, you should have purchased the original Windows 7 OS along with the installation media like CD\DVD etc. If you purchased the OS online, then you would only receive the product key in your mailbox from Microsoft and not any CD etc. If you want an installation disk, then contact Microsoft product support. You might have to shell out extra money to get one.

Check Windows Updates to see if you are being offered upgrade to Win7. It is, however, recommended to perform a clean installation of Win 7 instead of upgrade so as to avoid bumping into common upgrade problems. Back up all your data to an external flash drive or other media before performing the clean installation.

Check that your hardware meets the minimum system requirements for Win 7. If you are upgrading from Win Vista, then you need not worry as it meets the hardware requirements. However, if you are upgrading from Win XP, then you must check these. The installation of Windows 7 requires 1GHz processor (32-bit/64-bit), 2GB RAM (32-bit/64-bit) or higher for heavy-duty applications, 16GB free space available on the hard drive, DirectX 9 graphics support, Windows Driver Model (WDM) 1.0 or higher, Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, and 128MB graphics memory among others.

If you don’t want to go through the installation or upgrade procedure, then use this method. Do not erase anything on your computer. Simply download and install Windows Easy Transfer from Microsoft’s official website. You can also choose to download Laplink’s PCmover. Both the tools will help you not only backup all your data and settings etc. stored on the hard drive but also cleanly install Win 7 on a new computer or the existing one. Laplink PCmover comes with a transfer cable that will help you move your existing data to another Windows 7 computer. Windows Easy Transfer gives you options to transfer data through transfer cable, network, and an external USB flash drive or hard drive.

Whichever tool you conclude on, download it from its official site. Save the downloaded file to desktop (for convenience) and then run it as an administrator. Follow the wizard’s instructions and complete the migration.

How to Remove Adware SpySheriff

Adware SpySheriff or you can say the red wallpaper virus is a adware program that installs itself without your knowledge. It  is an obnoxious bit of adware that pretends to be a legitimate anti-spyware program. It doesn't matter which version of Windows you're running, you are vulnerable to this particular adware program.  It pops up messages claiming your computer is infected with various (fictitious) spyware bugs. It then offers the user a program that will remove them, for a price of course. It's a scam. It can change your computer's settings, install other spyware and adware programs, display unwanted advertisements at any time during your computing experience.  The only bug on your computer is the SpySheriff adware itself. You can remove it with an actual anti-spyware/adware program that comes with Windows.

Steps to Remove Adware SpySheriff

•    Launch Windows Defender. This tool comes pre-installed with Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

•    To run Defender, type the name ("Windows Defender", no quotes) into the Start menu search bar, then hit the ENTER key. Though Windows XP does not come with the tool pre-installed like 7 and Vista, XP users can download a free version from Microsoft Support (see Resources).

 •    Click the arrow next to the "Scan" button once. A menu will appear. Select "Full Scan."

•    Click the "Scan" button once.

•    Wait for the scan to finish. When it does, click "Clean System" or "Remove All" (the wording varies by system) to remove the SpySheriff adware.

•    Restart your computer.

Steps to Remove McAfee Endpoint Encryption

McAfee End point Encryption is designed to protect data loss and prevent unauthorized access to sensitive data using encryption techniques. Despite all the good reasons that the tool offers, you may desire to remove or uninstall McAfee Endpoint Encryption from your computer. In this blog I tried to explain the steps to remove McAfee Endpoint Encryption (MEE). The methods compiled here are reliable and correct until date. I still recommend that these should be implemented correctly to avoid facing issues or you can contact McAfee Support provider company at the Toll Free No +1-866-541-1792 For US/CA.

Using the Endpoint Encryption Management Console

•    Log in to Windows with an administrator account.

•    Click "Start," select "Control Panel" and click the "Programs" icons. Click the "Programs and Features" option.

•    Select the "McAfee Endpoint Encryption" software in the list of programs and click the "Uninstall" button.

•    Click "Next" in the Uninstaller window and click the "Remove All" button. A progress bar immediately opens, displaying the uninstall process.

•    Restart your computer to save the changes to your system

 Using Other Methods

If you are a normal household user and not an IT admin in some company, then use these methods to get rid of the McAfee MEE.

•    Click on the Start and browse to Control Panel and Add or Remove Programs. Double click on the Add/Remove Program icon. (Windows 7/Vista users can go to Programs and Features through Control Panel> Start menu).

•    Locate McAfee MEE from the list of installed programs and then click on the Remove button. When prompted, confirm the removal. Follow the wizard’s instructions to complete the procedure. Reboot the computer when prompted. The removal is still not completed as the traces remain in the form of registry entries and setup files.

•    Download a registry cleaner, an automatic tool, and install it using the automatic wizard’s instructions. Save the file to a location where it can be easily accessed from. Thereafter, browse to the location where the file is saved and run the installation. When the installation has finished, initiate the cleaning process. Create a restore point when asked by the tool and begin the procedure. The tool will delete all the empty registry keys of the uninstalled program and repair any corrupted entry or key etc. Any time you feel like undoing the changes, use the restore point in the tool and the things will be back as they were previously.

•    If you are still unable to get rid of MEE, then download and install Perfect Uninstaller, a third-party tool that will automatically uninstall all its remnants. When the file has been saved and installed afterwards, start the removal procedure. Open the Perfect Uninstaller window and select MEE from the listed programs. Click on the Uninstall button at the bottom right hand side and start following the instructions. Finish the procedure and reboot the computer when prompted. Your computer is now totally free from MEE.
