Unable to share Printer on Windows 7 Network?


If you have a printer attached to your windows 7 machine, you can share it with anyone on the same network; it doesn't matter what type of printer you have.

But, before sharing printer among multiple Windows 7 machine and users, make sure both machines are members of the same Workgroup which by default is named Workgroup. So you will have to verify the following settings under Advanced Sharing Settings for the Home or Work and Public profile.

Step 1: Go to 'Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Choose homegroup and sharing options'.

Step 2: Click the 'Printer' checkbox then Click the 'Change advanced sharing setting' link.

Step 3: Click 'Turn on network discovery' and 'Turn on file and printer sharing', then click 'Save changes'.

Step 4: Now go to Start and click on Printer icon, and double click on 'Customize your printer'.

Step 5: Click the checkbox 'Share this printer', click 'apply' and 'OK'.
