How to Fix Microsoft Security Essentials Error Codes

Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is the free antivirus offering from Microsoft. The program has been designed to help protect Windows users from virus, spyware, malware, and Trojan among other malicious infections that can ruin their online and offline life completely. Though it is easy to install and use MSE, you may still face errors while or after installing it. Don’t worry! I am discussing some of the common MSE installation errors here.
·         Can't complete the MSE Installation Wizard - Error code 0x80070643 or 0×80070002
·         PC stops responding during MSE installation
·         PC shows BSOD error after installation
·         Updates fail or can’t be checked, downloaded, or installed
·         Updates aren’t installing automatically as scheduled
·         Slow scan performance or overall PC performance
Check the steps given below and fix them:
1. The error code 0x80070643 occurs when your Windows hasn’t passed the genuine Windows validation test. Ensure that you have a genuine copy of Windows and not a duplicate one. If you don’t have a genuine copy, then procure one from your system vendor or the Microsoft website.
2. If the error occurs despite having a genuine Windows copy, remove the WGA notification. You can also find here how to disable Windows not genuine error in Windows 7.
3. If you still get the same or different error code, you might have another antivirus, anti-spyware, or firewall program installed on your PC. Check your PC for the same. If there is one, uninstall it completely from your PC and then continue with the installation. Find here how to remove a program completely from your PC.
4. Also delete the registry entries of the particular program to fully uninstall it from your computer. If you don’t do so, the empty registry keys of the uninstalled program will not let MSE install on your computer. Since manual registry deletion is not recommended, run a registry cleaner tool to remove the unused or corrupt registry entries. Now that the particular program is fully removed, install MSE program step by step. you can also find here how to back up Windows registry.

 5. If you are unable to update MSE, restart the Microsoft Update service. MSE uses the Microsoft Update service to update itself. Click Start> type ‘services.msc’ in the Start Search bar and hit Enter. If prompted, enter you admin password and continue. Right-click Windows Update> click Start (or Restart whatever you see there). When done, exit the Services window and restart your PC. Find here how to fix MSE update errors.
